Part 1: TRAILBLAIZERS 1 Listen

As the focus of this program is human rights and social justice issues, we basically never touch on works of fiction.  But today we break our own rule and interview Linda Fairstein, the author Hell Gate, her 12th novel in a series, because of her groundbreaking accomplishments aside from her writings.  Fairstein served as Prosecutor in New York County's Office of the District Attorney, for 26 years and 25 of those years as the Chief of the Sex Crimes Unit.  Ms. Fairstein was pivotal in changing the way victims, particularly women and children were treated in court.   Our Kathy Golden talks with Linda Fairstein.

Part 2: TRAILBLAIZERS 2 Listen

We continue our discussion with Linda Fairstein on her career and how real-life shapes her fictional characters and then we talk with Linda Tarr-Whelan.   Linda Tarr-Whelan served as President Carter's Deputy Assistant For Women's Concerns and as a delegate to the U.N.'s Women's Conference in Beijing.  She was later named President Clinton's Ambassador to the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women.  Recently this natural-born leader also published a book titled of course, Women Lead the Way; Your Guide to Stepping-up to Leadership and Changing the World.   Kathy talks with Linda Tarr-Whelan.
