Part 1: GETTING A GRIP Listen

Throughout all 16 books she's written and discernable in all her life's work thus far, Frances Moore Lappe lives conscientiously and politely nudges the rest of us in the best possible direction as well.  In her most recent book, Getting a Grip; Clarity, Courage and Creativity in a World Gone Mad, she asserts that our negative influences are reversible and the common barriers to progress are breakable.  But with empowerment comes responsibility, words must become actions.  Kathy Golden talks with activist and author, Frances Moore Lappe.

Part 2: DEMOCRACY AND THE $6 DOLLAR CURE Listen

If we're sincere about today's buzz-word "change" and we are truly ready to shun party politics as usual, lurking lobbyists and fear mongerers, then Americans for Campaign Reform has an idea that puts public funding for elections directly into our hands.  Their plan is applauded by Frances Moore Lappe and consists of a $1.8 billion dollar fund covering Senate, House and Presidential candidates at the cost of $6.00 per citizen.  It could at long last clean-up the mess and make our elected officials truly answerable to 'we the people'.  We return to our discussion with Frances Moore Lappe.
